“You will seek me and find me; when you seek me with all your heart Jeremiah 29:13

Dear brothers and sisters,

Our memory verse for this month is a great challenge for all of us.

To seek the Lord with all our heart is referring to the seat of the inner life, our thoughts and feelings. As a body’s vigour comes from its physical heart, your soul’s vigour comes from its spiritual heart. Faith is made strong in the heart (Rom 10:10); We love God in our heart (Luke 10:27); We pray effectively from our heart (2Tim 2:22).

Importantly, scripture tells us to “Keep your heart with all vigilance; for from it flow the springs of life” (Prov 4:23). It is imperative then to reflect on what is flowing from our heart? What is flowing to those around me especially those I live closely with? What is the culture or lifestyle that is forming around me? If our heart is healthy and we are seeking God I suggest we should see some of these things:

  1. Prayer – especially praise, worship and thanksgiving! This would include personal prayer as well as family prayer and corporate prayer like our Sunday online Gathering.
  2. Blessing – speaking well of one another and imparting blessing like in the Lord’s Day meal.
  3. Generosity – a healthy heart will overflow in generosity.
  4. Service – am I self – absorbed or looking outwards to the needs of those around me?

I would encourage you to join me in seeking God with all of our heart. God promises that when we do this WE WILL FIND HIM! The possibility of such a great reward should be a great encouragement for us.

God Bless,

Joe Chircop.
